Joe Biden May Choose Antony Blinken As Secretary Of State

President-elect Joe Biden may nominate longtime aid Antony Blinken as secretary of state. Blinken served as deputy of state and principal deputy national adviser during the Obama administration. The announcement will come on Tuesday as Biden is set to reveal members of his cabinet.

Before serving in the Obama administration, Blinken worked as Democratic staff director to the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee. While serving as an adviser in the Obama administration, Blinken played a pivotal role in foreign policy.

If selected by Biden, Blinken will work to repair relationships with allies all over the world.

“Tony was a terrific deputy secretary. He is brilliant and kind and would be a wonderful and very effective leader of what will have to be one of the most monumental tasks in diplomacy, cleaning up the stables after the worst president and secretary of state we have ever had,” James Melville said to CNN.
