Trump Says Jewish Voters Who Support Biden “do not love” Israel

Former President Donald Trump made controversial remarks during an interview, suggesting that Jewish people who vote for President Joe Biden don’t truly support Israel and “should be spoken to.”

Trump’s comments came as he criticized Biden’s stance on Israel amid the Israel-Hamas conflict. He claimed that Democrats, including Biden, are not strong supporters of Israel.

In the interview, Trump said, “Any Jewish person that votes for Biden does not love Israel and frankly, should be spoken to.” He argued that Biden is “totally on the side of Palestinians” and suggested that Jewish and Black voters tend to support Democrats out of habit.

The Biden campaign responded to Trump’s remarks, calling them a form of threat against Jewish Americans. A campaign spokesperson stated, “Jewish Americans do not need to be ‘spoken to’ or threatened by Donald Trump,” emphasizing that Trump has a history of divisive rhetoric and using hate as a political tool.

During his presidency, Trump had taken actions that were seen as favorable to Israel, such as moving the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal. However, his recent comments have drawn criticism for repeating an antisemitic trope suggesting dual loyalties among American Jews.

Trump’s remarks echo previous instances where he has suggested that Jewish people who vote for Democrats are betraying their religion and Israel. In a previous interview, he claimed that “Any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion” and insinuated that they are not supportive of Israel’s interests.

These comments are not new for Trump, who has been accused of invoking antisemitic tropes in the past. In 2019, he faced backlash for suggesting that Jewish people who vote for Democrats show “great disloyalty.” Such remarks have been condemned for perpetuating harmful stereotypes about Jewish Americans.
